Newly opened and refurbished in October 2020, Wanderlust NZ is a waterfront hostel located in a historical building in downtown Tauranga. It features a large balcony area overlooking the harbor and free high-speed unlimited throughout. Among the facilities at this property are 2 spacious, shared kitchens overlooking the water and a separate shared lounge area. There are a variety of bars and cafes located a short walk from the hostel. The bus station is a 1-minute walk from Wanderlust NZ, and the Visitor Information Center is located next door. The nearest airport is Tauranga Airport, 3.1 mi from Wanderlust NZ. Covid-19 Lockdown Level Changes Please read Alert Level protocols below. Alert Level 1: We are open for new guests. Please remember to regularly wash hands, follow the Alert Level info and instructions on notice board in hostel and do not travel when you are unwell. Please continue to be kind to other guests and staff. Alert Level 2: We are open for new guests. Additional to protocols of Alert Level 1, we also ask our guests on arrival of any symptoms, illness or issues with the covid-19 Hostel guidelines. No cash payments will be accepted. Guests are required to scan QR code and use hand sanitizer when (leaving) and entering the building. Occupancy is limited in dorm rooms. ​​​​​Alert Level 3: We are open for current guests and only accept bookings for those seeking essential accommodations or in case of an emergency. (If accommodations is required for work, we need proof of essential job.) Additional to protocols of Alert Level 1 and 2, we also ask our guests to fill out a declaration form on arrival, to agree with the hostels lockdown level policies. New guests will live on a separate floor level than existing guests (different bubbles). Masks must be worn at all times and guests are only able to leave the hostel to source essential supplies or for local exercise. Alert Level 4: We do not accept new guests under Alert Level 4. As long as we are in lockdown under Alert Level 4, we do not accept new guests. We are Covid-Clean approved, endorsed by Qualmark NZ. We have increased cleaning protocols in all allert levels. We increase the frequency of these protocols in public areas during Alert Level 3. We continue to monitor updates and developments from the Ministry of Health and New Zealand Government.
